1. Information We Collect

When you use BalanceUp, we may collect the following types of information:

• Contact Information: Email address, phone number (for account setup and multi-factor authentication).
• Identifiers: Firebase UID, username, device identifiers, FCM tokens for push notifications.
• Financial Information: Bank account and transaction data (via Plaid), income/paycheck details, budgets, and savings goals entered by you.
• User Content: Posts, comments, and other content shared in the Community Forum.
• Biometric Authentication: If enabled, we allow login using Apple's Face ID or Touch ID. Biometric data itself is never collected or stored by BalanceUp — it remains encrypted and managed by Apple.
• Usage Data: In-app activity, preferences, and interactions.
• Diagnostics: Crash logs, performance metrics, and analytics (via Firebase and Google Cloud).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect to:

• Provide core app functionality (budgeting, bank sync, savings goals, AI insights).
• Authenticate and secure accounts (including MFA via phone number and biometric login).
• Operate the Community Forum.
• Deliver personalized financial tips via NIA (our AI assistant).
• Improve app performance and fix bugs.
• Communicate with you about updates, support, and policy changes.

3. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. Data is only shared as follows:

• Service Providers: Plaid (bank connectivity), Firebase/Google (authentication, analytics, notifications), OpenAI (AI insights).
• Legal Obligations: When required by law or to protect rights/safety.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request account deletion, which permanently removes your personal data except where retention is required by law.

5. Children's Privacy

BalanceUp is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

6. Security

We use industry-standard encryption and authentication methods to protect your data. Sensitive data such as financial accounts and biometric authentication remain securely managed through trusted providers (Plaid, Apple, Firebase).

7. Your Choices & Rights

• You may access, update, or delete your account information at any time.
• You may disable biometric login in device settings.
• You may opt out of marketing communications.

8. No Tracking

BalanceUp does not use third-party advertising, nor do we track users across apps or websites.
